Kashmir: Two guards killed after gunmen attack cash van in Shopian

Two security guards accompanying a cash van were killed in Kellar area of Shopian in South Kashmir after unknown gunmen attacked the vehicle Monday afternoon.

According to reports, gunmen had opened indiscriminate firing on the van at Poju Kellar, injuring two guards critically.

The wounded guards were immediately shifted to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Hospital sources confirmed the deaths.

The slain have been identified as 30-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Islamabad and 25-year-old Tariq Ahmad, resident of Tumlehal Pulwama

Police officials said that there was no cash in the van.

Government forces have cordoned the entire area.
