SRINAGAR: Freezing conditions continue to grip the Kashmir Valley, with most areas recording sub-zero temperatures, while Ladakh remains in the grip of a severe cold wave, and Jammu experiences milder conditions.

In the Kashmir region, Sonamarg emerged as one of the coldest locations, recording a chilling -6.7°C, closely followed by Pahalgam at -6.4°C and Larnoo at -5.6°C. Popular tourist destinations Gulmarg and Shopian registered -5.4°C and -5.0°C, respectively. Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded a low of -3.2°C, with nearby areas such as Budgam and Khudwani dropping to -3.9°C and -4.7°C, respectively. Anantnag recorded -2.8°C, and Kupwara was slightly warmer at -1.4°C.
The Jammu region saw milder weather, with Jammu city recording 9.6°C. Among other areas, Katra registered the highest minimum temperature at 10.2°C, while Ramban and Reasi recorded 6.5°C and 7.4°C, respectively. Banihal experienced near-freezing conditions at 0.7°C, while Padder emerged as the coldest in the region at -6.0°C.
The Ladakh region remains under extreme cold, with Drass, often termed the coldest inhabited place in the world, recording a bone-chilling -18.8°C. Kargil and Leh registered lows of -12.4°C and -7.8°C, respectively.
