Rubia is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace. She has been actively involved in cricket since 2012 and has been a part of the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) for the past decade. Additionally, she has showcased her talent in the Ranji Trophy and Senior Women’s T-20.

Speaking to the news agency KNO over the phone, Rubia shared her excitement, saying, “I received a call from the team officials informing me that I have been selected to join the IPL team Gujarat Giants for the upcoming season.”

Rubia expressed her gratitude to her father, Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, a fruit businessman, who has consistently believed in and supported her throughout her cricketing journey. She mentioned that her family members and fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing her represent the Gujarat Giants.

“I am committed to giving my best to contribute to the team’s success,” she added.

Jasia Akhter, another female cricketer from South Kashmir’s Shopian district, made headlines earlier this year when she was chosen for the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 20 lakh in the auction. (KNO)
