Kashmiri film director Abdul Rafia Fazili’s non feature film, Mangroves – Guardians of the Coast, has been selected for screening at 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held at Goa.

The film was selected out of the 143 films in the Indian Panorama non feature category and the film is scheduled to be re-screened on November 28, during the festival. The film has been co-directed by Doel Trivedy.

Mangroves – Guardians of the Coast, is a 28 minute HD colour English non feature film which showcases the fascinating web of life that surrounds the tidal Mangrove forests which are world’s oldest & most resilient forests on the planet. Mangroves are ideal habitats for many terrestrial and marine species and act as natural barriers against storm surges and coastal erosion. The film highlights the unique collaboration between governments and local institutions, NGOs and local communities in efforts to save these vulnerable ecosystems and restore them to their past glory.

A.R. Fazili is in video programming for over 20 years now. He has a master’s degree in mass communication and journalism from MERC Kashmir University besides he has done a visual communication certificate program from MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
