A Kashir resident, believed to be Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, a Tangdar resident, had uploaded this photo on FB from a Russian city as a Russian Army mercenary somewhere in December 2023. He is reported missing.

Reports appearing in the media suggest that CBI officials interacted with the brother of Azad Yousuf Kumhar, who landed in Russia through Dubai and was pushed as a surrogate soldier.

Kashmir has two persons currently on Russia’s frontiers. Another person is from Tangdar whose whereabouts are not currently known. They are among 12 persons who have been tricked into the war while they were seeking better avenues for livelihoods.

Sajad Ahmed, Kumar’s brother, has given details of his brother’s departure and becoming a victim of human trafficking. The federal investigator has already dismantled a human trafficking network sucking Indian youth into the war zone. Those involved include facilitators within and outside India.

Azad is an engineering graduate who landed in Dubai for a job promised by a YouTuber. There, he was flown to Russia, given military training for 15 days and sent to the war theatre. The family said they are in touch with their member who has been saying that he is on frontiers and is constantly in danger.
