SRINAGAR
President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) and MLA Langate Er Rashid Thursday protested against the Shopian killings before detained by Police near civil secretariat in Srinagar along with his workers, the party spokesman said.
Carrying banners, MLA Langate pitched slogans against state government: “In Srinagar, Omar was enjoying music of Zubin Mehta. In Shopian, Kashmiri mothers were mourning the killings of their innocent children by CRPF.”
The party spokesman said that police first sprayed coloured water on protesters and then bundled them on police vehicles.
“Kashmiri people live a less secure life in Kashmir than a street dog in Kashmir,” read one of the banner carrying by Er Rashid.
“This protest was against the dead conscience of Indian society who has maintained criminal silence over the killing in Shopian,” Er Rashid told Kashmir Life soon after his release.
