Life remained affected in Kashmir Thursday over the strike call given by the senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani over the killing of a youth, Rafiq Ahmad Rather in Shopian district of south Kashmir.

Schools, colleges, universities and business units remain closed and public transport was off from the roads. While as banks remained open and private cars were playing on roads in the Srinagar centre, Lal Chowk.

Geelani called for a shutdown in the Kashmir valley and the Chenab valley districts of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban over the killing.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik also called for a sit-in at the city centre Lal Chowk in Srinagar Friday.
