SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri shawl seller was attacked and robbed by unidentified individuals in Kapurthala district, Punjab. Identified as Fareed Ahmad Bajad, a resident of Karlpora, Kupwara, was severely beaten, leaving him with multiple bruises, and his belongings, including shawls and cash, were looted, The Indian Express reported.
SSP Kapurthala Gaurav Toora told the newspaper that similar past incidents were linked to drug addicts and petty criminals, and the latest case appeared to be of the same nature. An FIR has been registered, and police assured the culprits will be arrested soon.
In earlier cases, the police said that four persons have been arrested and some of the looted material has also been recovered. This is said to be the third incident of its kind in the last three fortnights. Bajad has survived with injuries, the reports added.
