A Kashmiri student Tauseef Ahmad Pirzada was found dead in his hostel room in Rajasthan on Saturday.

Tauseef, son of Habibullah Pirzada from Devar Kupwara was found hanging from ceiling fan in his room at around 6.30 pm by other students living in same hostel. His friends who were out of the hostel knocked at his closed room when they returned. When there was no response from inside, they informed the authorities.

Police station Mukhangarh have taken the body and the autopsy was underway, students said. They have registered the case already.

He was a first year student of BE civil in Shikhawati Engineering College, Rajasthan under PMGSY scheme. The college is located at Dundlod and is affiliated with Rajasthan Techmical University Kota. It is one of the half a dozen educational institutions that are being run by Satwic Jeewan Shala trust.

“He had joined college in August and now was supposed to appear in his first semester exams,” said a Kashmiri student, studying in same college. “Tauseef was busy preparing for his exams scheduled from December 06 for which he had deposited his examination fees as well. But he was shocked to see that he was not a registered student under Delhi University.”

Since then Tauseef was depressed. In order to come out of this crisis, his colleagues said he met managing director of education city, Danesh Ranwa.  Danesh is understood to have offered him various options, the students said.

There are various versions being talked about in the premises, the students said. One report said that Ranwa asked him to pay Rs 45000 and he will get him admission in any other college in Delhi or do pharmacy for a year and wait for next year till there is vacancy in same college.

Belonging to humble background, Tauseef  couldn’t afford to pay that much of money. He has written about his depression, his registration problem and MD’s meeting in his “suicide note”. Students sent Kashmir Life the photo of the “suicide note” that they found on his phone.

Another version is that he was sent to the college by a consultancy and was awaiting admission. He had been there for last three months.

After the news of Tauseef’s death started making rounds in hostel, other students from Kashmir started a peaceful protest. Students told Kashmir Life that they are scared and need some security.

One of his cousins who is on way to Rajasthan said the Kashmiri students are protesting outside the police station. They are seeking registration of FIR against the college management.
