From an abdomen of a teenage girl, Kashmiri surgeons have removed world’s biggest cyst.

Weighing 48.5 lbs (more massive than a weight of five-year-old child), the cyst was removed from the abdomen of an 18-year-old patient Khalida Akhtar who was hospitalized in extreme abdominal pain.

A team of surgeons led by Dr Malik Azad performed two-hour long ‘free’ surgery. Dr Azad said that the six-month old cyst was spread from the patient’s pelvis to upper abdomen, choking the patient. The chances of survival of the patient were very bleak, he said.

The end result of the surgery has not delighted doctors, but also the teenager’s parents.
