The J&K government has deployed over 8000 forces personnel across Kashmir to “secure” the vital military installations through a joint patrol of police, army and the paramilitary personnel.

A newspaper report said on Saturday that while over 8,000 additional troopers have been deployed in Kashmir in last few days to check any untoward incidents, on July 11, 800 CRPF personnel were deployed for the security cover.

“While 20 additional companies of CRPF have been deployed for security, mostly in the restive South Kashmir areas, on Thursday 2 battalions of the Army were moved from Nagrota to Valley to control the situation,” they said.

“We have deployed adequate strength of force personnel and the situation has improved considerably. We have deployed our personnel mostly in the South Kashmir areas. We, however, hope that the situation will improve soon,’’ a top CRPF official w2as quoting as saying while IGP CRPF, Atul Karwal, is reorted to have said that “they have a good amount of force available to deal with the situation”.

At least 40 civilians have been killed by government forces since July 09, 2016 during protests which erupted after forces killed militant commander Burhan Wani in Kokernag area of South Kashmir.
