Body of a youth has been retrieved from Jhelum in South Kashmir’s Awantipora early Wednesday.

A cop from Awantipora police station said that locals of Jeobara area had retrieved a body of a youth before they informed Police Station Awantipora.

The deceased youth has been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Mantoo, s/o Sonaullah Mantoo, in the age group of 18-20. He was belonged to Kisrigam Kakpora and was a labourer.

The body is in Pampore Hospital this time where doctors are conducting postmortem of the body.

A local from Kisrigam said family of Zahoor Ahmad Mantoo was perturbed since Saturday when he had left home funeral prayers of Burhan Wani along with scores of neighbourhood people.

“Relatives and locals from his neighbourhood gathered at his home since early morning when they came to know that he is dead and his body was found in Awantipora area,” local sources said. “The family contacted all police station in the area in last four days.”

Zahoor is survived by mother, brother (specially abled) and four sisters. Two of the sisters are yet to be married. His father had died some years ago.
