SRINAGAR: The Cyber police have registered a case after it found a fake twitter handle in the name of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, a local gatherer reported.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha

“Following reports of a fake account in the name of the LG Manoj Sinha, we have registered a case under the relevant provision of law,” one of the top officials of the cyber police told KINS. “In times of pandemic, any such hacking incident can also cause widespread rumours leading to chaos. Citizens should be alert and not blindly trust any tweet.”

In real Kashmir, this is Lieutenant Governor Sinha’s second virtual problem. The first problem actually started well before he landed in Kashmir when somebody got into his Wikipedia profile and changed it.

The BJP civil engineer who represented Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency in parliament thrice was about to land in Srinagar when the changes in his profile became news.

“Unknown elements managed to alter the contents of his Wiki profile and added to it,” India Today reported. He was accused of planning to restore 4G Services in Kashmir, according to his altered profile besides secretly supporting separatists. “The changes were removed shortly afterwards and the page restored to its original form. Wikipedia shows that the page was last altered at 9.48 am on August 6.”
