Kathua murder: SHO suspended as opposition protests in Assembly

Jammu: The government of Jammu and Kashmir ordered the suspension of SHO Hiranagar on Saturday after faces the massive protest by opposition National Conference and Congress in the legislative assembly.

As soon as the discussion on grants of transport department starts the Opposition Congress Legislator Usman Majeed stood up raised his voice over the issue of murder of the Kathua minor girl who was raped and murdered.

An 8-year-old girl was abducted on January 12 from near her home in Rasana. She was allegedly sexually abused before her dead body was recovered in forest area around 3 KMs away from her home.

He alleges due to the negligence of police officers the minor girl was murdered and demands the suspension of police officers.

He questioned, “Why government didn’t suspend the police officers ?”

Usman Majeed told the house that girl was abducted in a cowshed that is in middle of the village. Why police didn’t find the girl in the said village till 6 days ?” “How is it possible a boy 15-year-old did it alone ?”  why police didn’t search in this village ?”

Interfering, BJP legislator Rajiv Jasrotia MLA Kathua asked the opposition members that you are dividing the people on the region basis.

The situation triggers ugly turn and members staged a rukus in well of the house and shouted slogans like “Ladli beti ko insaaf do”  “Bjp hihi” “Insaaf do” “qatil ko phansi do” and demand the hang accused who kill the minor girl.

NC legislator Ali Mohammad Sagar said We don’t communalise the issue. We want the suspension of police officers for fair investigation.

NC legislator Abdul Majeed Larmi, alleged that it was a conspiracy so as to remove the minority community from the area.

Shamima Firdous MLA Habba kadal told the house that the kidney of the girl was also removed by the accused where was police till the organs of the abducted girl were removed ?”.

She added that we will not allow the government to run the house till the police officers will not be suspended.

NC legislator Altaf Kaloo wondered as for why police did not act for seven days after the girl was abducted even after the family had registered the complaint.

Intervening the parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rahman Veeri assure the members who so ever is responsible for this incident will be punished if even officers are involved will be punished.

He further informed the house that government has also ordered for a Magisterial inquiry into the issue.

Opposition members didn’t motivate they demand suspension of the police officers.

Later Minister For disaster management Javid Mustafa Mir told the house that government will suspend the SHO Hiranagr till further orders.
