Eminent business personality and Chairperson KC Group, Sudarshan Kumar Mahajan (1932-2015), passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015.
Son of Ram Chand Mahajan, SK Mahajan in his life span of 84 years left the legacy of KC Group named after Kishan Chand Mahajan, his grandfather.
Nicknamed as Nichu, Mahajan was responsible for elevating the reputation of his timber company and making it one of the leading timber industries across India.
Mahajan was instrumental to form the KC Educational Society and set up KC Public School in 1997. Further, he started KC College of Education and KC Law College in the early years of twenty first century.
“All the three institutions, as of today, have turned into the most reputed centres of learning in the State,” one of his associates said. “His vision to bring these institutions at par with the best in India and in the world kept him deeply involved in their continuous growth and development.”
His deputies say, although an octogenarian, Mahajan was passionate about incorporating latest technologies, approaches and ideologies and integrating them seamlessly with the existing infrastructure of educational facilities. “He treated people working with him in his missionary work like members of his own family and was always concerned about their welfare and professional growth,” they said.
Mahajan led his family to set up industrial ventures in steel, ferroalloys and plywood. “The family also set up shopping malls, multiplexes, car dealerships and first of its kind KC Sports Club in the state. Now, the family is in the process of setting up the first five star hotel of Jammu,” a manager working in of KC Group of industries said. The official added that Mahajan’s single statement of his life read, “The conduct of a true man of action turns into a beacon light for the rest of humanity which follows his footsteps with utmost devotion.”
