The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in collaboration with HDFC Bank on Saturday conducted an awareness programme for exporters, traders, and artisans on Kashmiri handicrafts here. Various handicraft schemes were highlighted in the programme.

KCCI, HDFC Bank organize awareness programme on Kashmir Handicrafts

The Development Commissioner Handicrafts – Shantamanu was the chief guest and Syed Abid Rasheed Shah – Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was the guest of honour on the occasio . Shantamanu assured all help and support from Handicraft department to the artisans and exporters of Jammu and Kashmir.

Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on the occasion said: The administration has identified 20 Kanals of land for Handicraft and will become a major tourist.

“The HDFC Bank has already provided 250 Crore loans to MSME and handicraft Sector in J&K,” Zubair Iqbal from HDFC Bank said.

President of KCCI, Sheikh Ashiq Hussain put forth a proposal that market access schemes be extended to KCCI and demanded raw material for silk to cater the president demand.

“The government has been approached for registration of Handicrafts sector under MSME and approval is expected soon,” Joint Director of Industries said.
