The night temperatures in parts of Kashmir valley remained below the freezing point on Sunday.

Leh in Ladakh was the coldest place in the state where minimum temperature was minus 15.6 degrees followed by Kargil minus 10.8 degrees.

Due to the clear night sky, the minimum temperatures have again dropped below the freezing point at most places in the Valley. The weather is likely to remain mainly dry in the state for the next 24 hours,” a Met department official said.

Srinagar recorded the season’s coldest night temperature at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius while it was minus 9.3 and minus 9.5 in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, respectively.

The Kokernag area of district Islamabad has recorded minus 5.7 and Kupwara has recorded minus 6.0  degree Celsius, respectively. Qazigund has recorded minus 5.6 degree Celsius.

Jammu city recorded 5.5 degrees Celsius, Katra 6.4, Batote 1.8, Bannihal 4.1 and Bhaderwah minus 1.7 degrees Celsius.
