Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry has succeeded in getting the Geographical Indication (GI) Certificate of Kashmir Hand Knotted carpet.
KCCI president, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, in a statement said, “after six years of continuous hard work put in in association with Indian Institute of Carpet Technology and Meeras Carpet Weavers, we have got it,” he said.
“The Geographical Indication (GI) Certification shall add both value and credibility to our carpets in the domestic and international markets and will help its increased off take in the export market which in turn benefit our artisans and overall economy of the State,” the KCCI statement said.
The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry expects the Carpet manufacturer “make every effort to ensure their products conform to the Geographical Indication Certification standards steadily and for all times to come”.
