According to KCCI, the DGFT has informed that manual issuance of Certificates of Origin will be discontinued across India from January 1, 2025. Exporters will be required to obtain certificates only through the online system.

With this authorisation, KCCI becomes the first chamber in Jammu and Kashmir permitted to issue Certificates of Origin through the digital portal. The certificate is required by customs authorities in importing countries to confirm the origin of goods.

Exporters in JK can now apply for the certificate via the Trade Connect Portal. KCCI will verify and process applications submitted through the online system, removing the need for physical submissions.

KCCI said that the move would enable exporters in sectors such as handicrafts, carpets, shawls, horticulture, and processed food to complete certification locally.

The chamber has also advised exporters facing any difficulty to contact its office for assistance with the online process.
