Over the recent Tweet of former JK chief minister Omar Abdullah wherein he accuses PDP of reviving Ikhwan culture in valley, government Friday said ‘everyone knows the parentage of Ikhwan in Kashmir’

Working president of the opposition National Conference, Omar Abdullah Friday hit out at PDP-BJP coalition government over the remarks of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on the strategy of eliminating militants in the state.

“Looks like (Chief Minister) Mufti (Mohammad) Syed (sic) is reviving & empowering the Ikhwanis (counter-insurgents). That’s the only way to carry out ‘terrorists killing terrorists’ policy of MOD,” Omar tweeted.

Reacting over Omar remarks, Government said it is committed to strengthen civil institutions in the state. “Let Omar Abdullah keep tweeting. The working is working to widen the democratic space in the state,” Education Minister Naeem Akhtar told KNS.

He added that everyone in the state knows the parentage of Ikhwan and no one should have any doubt about it that it was National Conference which unleashed terror in Kashmir.

“For six years continuously, from 1996 to 2002- NC had established structure of their own. It was Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who ended it all and people heaved a sigh of relief,” Akhtar maintained.

Omar while taking a jibe at the government through his tweet was referring to the statement made by Union Defence Minister on Friday.

“Our proactive attitude is to identify terrorists and then effectively neutralize them. Every case is handled firmly with clear-cut intelligence for targeted kills.

“We ensure minimal collateral damage. You have to neutralize terrorist through terrorist only. Why my soldier has to do it all the time?” Parrikar had said.

Meanwhile, Akhtar while commenting over the issuance of passport to senior separatist Syed Ali Geelani said the stand of the government over this issue is unchanged and it considers it as a Humanitarian issue. “It is a Humanitarian issue and should be seen with that angle only. The stand of the government over issuing passport to Syed Ali Geelani is unchanged- he should be issued the travel document,” remarked Akhtar.
