Senior IAS, officer Mohammad Iqbal Khanday is the new Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. A final decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the state cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here Monady morning. Khanday, took over the charge just after the cabinet decision.

Khanday replaced Madhav Lal, who is proceeding to Delhi to take over as Secretary Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise in Government of India.

Iqbal Khanday is 5th state subject to reach the top slot of state’s bureaucracy since 1990 after C Phunsog, Vijay Bakaya, S S Bloeria and Sheikh Ghulam Rasool.

Meanwhile, senior IAS officer, B B Vyas will take over as the Financial Commissioner Finance. He will hold the post as additional charge to his existing assignments.
