Soon after news of civilian killed in Kulgam spread in parts of Valley, students in Sopore town hit the streets and started pelting stones on government forces.

Reports said that scores of students who were returning from their respective tuition canters held protests against the civilian killing in Kulgam at Iqbal Market in north Kashmir’s Sopore town and tried to block the road.

However, government forces chased them away creating a panic-like situation in the area.

It is pertinent to mention that authorities in Degree College Sopore suspended class work for today “as a precautionary measure”.

The encounter broke out on Tuesday night in Wani Mohalla of Khudwani village, so far one army man has been killed while two others have sustained injuries and a civilian Sharjeel Ahmed Sheikh, a local resident was also killed during the clashes near the encounter site.
