Khyber Cement Champions Cleaner, Greener Kashmir with Fifth Edition of Swachhata Hi Seva

   

SRINAGAR: Khyber Cement marked the fifth edition of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare in Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative, themed Let’s Build a Cleaner Tomorrow, was conducted under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines, Dehradun Region, and the Directorate General of Mines Safety, Srinagar Region, from September 17 to October 2, culminating on Gandhi Jayanti.

The programme began with a Swachhata pledge ceremony at the Khyber Cement factory premises, led by Sri Ramachandran, Deputy Director of Mines Safety for the Srinagar Region, highlighting a shared commitment to cleanliness, social responsibility, and sustainable development.

Over the course of two weeks, Khyber Cement collaborated with local schools, the administration, and nearby villagers to implement a range of activities, including cleanliness drives, health awareness campaigns, and tree-plantation initiatives. On September 30, a plantation drive at the Green Belt surrounding the factory saw the planting of diverse tree species, with enthusiastic participation from employees, villagers, and students alike.

Riaz Tramboo, Director of Operations, said, “Through initiatives like Swachhata Hi Seva, Khyber Cement has always been at the forefront of creating tangible community impact. Beyond business, we aim to set benchmarks in social responsibility and sustainable development.”

Myser Ahmed Khan, Chief of Mines, added, “Khyber Cement’s efforts demonstrate how corporate responsibility can drive meaningful change. Programs like Swachhata Hi Seva foster a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Kashmir.”

Launched by the Government of India, Swachhata Hi Seva is a nationwide programme promoting cleanliness, sanitation, and sustainable practices. Khyber Cement has consistently played a leading role in such initiatives, ensuring active participation of local communities and creating lasting social and environmental impact.

Through this fifth edition, the company reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development, social responsibility, and community growth, proving that its contribution extends far beyond cement production, shaping a cleaner, greener, and thriving Jammu and Kashmir.
