Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Baghat Friday said that Jammu and Kashmir government has got sanction of two government Nursing colleges and one among these two colleges will be established at Kishtwar.

While addressing a public gathering at ITI Kishtwar, the minister announced that in addition to the Nursing college, an AMT college building will be constructed inside District Hospital Complex which will be made functional by starting various medical courses from this year academic session.

He said that all requisite infrastructure including labs and staff has been completed for making AMT college functional at Kishtwar.

“In order to prevent the misuse of hospital supply medicines and its sale at private medical shops, medical department has undertaken a major task with different medical suppliers who will provide hospital supply medicines in a particular colour,” he said. “The said colour will be kept reserved only for hospital supplies in government hospitals of J&K.”

Health department is purchasing a set of 4-bed sheets with different colours so that a particular colour bed sheet will be used on particulate days.

He said that the foundation stone of much awaited cancer hospital at Kishtwar will be laid on Monday October 10, 2016.

“This hospital will give access to people of state to advance cancer treatment,” he said.

The Minister further said that the land acquisition process for establishment of Medical College at Doda has almost been completed and soon government will start work on it.

He said that the process for establishment of medical college at Kathua is also at an “advanced stage”.
