Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Baseer Ahmed Khan wide order No: 524-29/SDK/R dated 16-09-2013 made public the list of victims whose moveable and immoveable property got damaged in the recent Communal riots in Kishtwar and Padder.

As per the list and order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, the copy of which was pasted on the wall of DC office complex–there are 217 victims including the owner and the tenants who have suffered losses in the riots.

The list has been worked out/prepared by the concerned agencies including Revenue/PWD and police departments and was verified/authenticated by the constituted committee for payment of ex-gratia relief.

The order further stated that in case there is any objection from any person with regard to addition/deletion of the name/kind of loss, same shall be received by the Additional District Commissioner Kishtwar, within 15 days from the issuance of the notification.

Officials of the District administration informed that once the process of seeking an objection with regard to the list framed by the administration gets completed, in accordance to the Law– the distribution of compensation among the victims will be started.

Meanwhile the Special Investigation Team probing the riots has reportedly decided to send some weapons recovered by them out of the looted weapons from an armory shop for FSL test.

Sources said that the SIT wants to know whether the recovered weapons were used during the riots or not. The SIT also has seized the weapons of some police personnel as well and the same were also sent to FSL for testing.
