SRINAGAR: The Ratle Hydroelectric Project (850 MW) in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, is set to play a crucial role in addressing the power needs of Rajasthan as the Ratle Hydro Electric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL) has recently formalised a significant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited.

The agreement, signed in Jaipur on January 3, 2024, marks a substantial development in the energy sector.

RHPCL, a joint venture between NHPC Limited and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC), is at the forefront of this collaboration. The PPA outlines the offtake of power generated from the 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project, located in the picturesque union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The agreement spans a considerable duration of 40 years, starting from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the project.

This strategic partnership aligns with the broader energy goals and initiatives of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The signing ceremony in Jaipur saw the presence of senior officials from both RHPCL and Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited, underlining the significance of this collaboration. This venture not only strengthens the ties between the two regions but also underscores the commitment towards sustainable and efficient power supply.
