SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across Baramulla, Kupwara and parts of Srinagar districts in order to facilitate branch cutting and infrastructure upgrades on several 33KV transmission lines.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, power supply will remain affected from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on multiple dates in April and May, impacting dozens of localities in north and central Kashmir.
In Kupwara district, power outages are scheduled in areas including Dolipora, Magam, Karihama, Trehgam, Hyhama, Tangdar, Teethwal, Keran, Kralpora, Panzgam, Tarathpora, Handwara, Chogal, Pohrupeth, Tikker, Galizoo, Drugmulla, Khumriyal, Krusen, Diver, Sogam and Machil between April 24 and 30, 2025.
Among the shutdowns, the 33KV Tangdar Tap, Keran Tap, and Handwara lines will be affected on various dates, with Receiving Stations at corresponding locations switched off during maintenance work. Power to several towns will be disrupted due to the simultaneous shutdown of critical feeders like Handwara Old, Handwara Hot, Kupwara Old, Kupwara Hot and M.E.S. lines.
In Baramulla district, supply disruptions are scheduled for areas including Baramulla-Ist, Kanli Bagh, GMC, Bagh-I-Islam, Drangbal, Sheeri, Chandoosa, Malpora, Gantamulla, Sultanpora, Salamabad Bandi, Mohura, Noorkhah, Boniyar, Nowshera, Watergam, Hachipora, Hadipora, Rohama, Chakloo, MID Irrigation, Seer, Delina, Jety and Sopore-II. These outages are slated between May 3 and 20, 2025, owing to shutdowns of lines such as Baramulla-Ist, Baramulla-2nd, Malpora, URI, Boniyar, Watergam, SIDCO and Delina.
In Srinagar, power shutdowns will take place on April 26, 28 and 30, impacting key areas including KP Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, Batamaloo, Exhibition, Rajbagh, Gangbugh, Danderkha, Narkara, Court Complex, Mominabad, Miskeenbagh, Rosabal, Hazaribagh, Kondabal, Hassanabad, Jogi Lankar, Paloura, Sangam, JLNM Hospital, Fateh Kadal, Khayam and Khankahi Mohalla.
These outages are being carried out to install 33KV insulators at GIS Tengpora and stabilise supply feeders for projects like the STP at Ali Jan Road. Lines such as GIS Tengpora KP Bagh, Exhibition, Narkara, Bemina Exhibition, Khanyar, and Bagh Ali Mardan Khan-Takenwari will undergo scheduled maintenance, with power supply cut from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM or as notified.
