SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has implemented a revised power curtailment schedule across the Kashmir Valley from October 17, with the duration of scheduled outages varying according to feeder categories and their operational status.
The schedule covers feeders under various Sub-Transmission Divisions (STDs) across the Valley, including Srinagar, Pulwama, Bijbehara, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Bandipora, Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara and Budgam.
Under the revised arrangement, essential feeders serving hospitals, Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), SMHS Hospital, district hospitals, water supply schemes and other emergency services have been assigned zero or half an hour of daily curtailment, depending on their classification.
Metered, cabled and designated round-the-clock feeders in Srinagar city, under STD-I and STD-II, will face power cuts ranging from 30 minutes to three hours a day.
In rural areas, non-cabled and non-metered feeders are scheduled to face six to eight hours of daily curtailment, according to the schedule.
Industrial feeders, including those serving the Lassipora Industrial Estate, have been exempted from curtailment, with zero hours of scheduled power cuts.
The schedule lists 11-kilovolt (kV) feeders across several subdivisions, specifying their receiving stations, feeder codes, names and allocated curtailment hours.
KPDCL has advised consumers to consult the official feeder-wise schedule to check the timings applicable to their areas.
The revised arrangement comes into effect amid rising electricity demand during the winter season and limited power availability.
