The Kashmir Centre for Social and Developmental Studies (KCSDS) has expressed anguish and concern over the alleged mal treatment and harassment meted out to Kashmiri students outside the state.

In a statement, the KSCDS said that it is greatly disturbed to hear about the hate culture to which our young students have been subjected to  in Haryana ‘s educational institute in the present instance

In a statement issued here the members of the civil society group expressed   anguish  and dismay over the    harassment and intimidation  faced by our students at Ganga Institute  of Technology and management , Jajjar Haryana. Most of these students  are enrolled  for under grad courses like B-Tech,BBA .

“They are intimidated   and asked to return to their homes. These students have been facing harassment under various pretexts both from student community and the authorities of the university. They have  gone there under the special scholarship scheme  introduced on the recommendations of an expert group  which was constituted by the Prime Minister of India in August 2010 for enhancing the youngsters’  employability in the state”, the statement read.

“This is not an isolated incident but part of a recurrent pattern of hostile behavior, demonstrative of a deeper malaise afflicting the citizens in India. This mind set especially in parts of northern India has been perpetrated by the official propaganda carried out by the biased and jingoistic “, it added.

The KSCDS said that it was incumbent upon the state govt to intervene in the matter and take it up immediately with the central and respective state governments  to address the issue at hand to stop the harassment and intimidation of these young souls.

“The state government should also take it up with heads of institutions in various states and the central home and  education ministry to find a last solution to the problem of  discrimination , intimidation , harassment of all those who are studying in different parts of India. as the stories of torture surface time and again from one or the other part of  the  country”, the statement added.
