University of Kashmir South Campus celebrated world Arbror day in collaboration with   Divisional Social Forestry Department at Islamabad, South Kashmir on Wednesday.

The two organizations jointly launched Plantation Day by taking the cause of making Khanabal Pahalgam Road green through the plantation of pine tree seedlings on the road.

The function was attended by outgoing District Development Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Shah and the new Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone.

On the occasion senior functionaries of the district administration, University of Kashmir, Social Forestry Department and members of trade association KP Road were present.

The function was inaugurated by the two Deputy Commissioners—Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, and Director South Campus, University of Kashmir, Prof  Khursheed Ahmed Bhat.

Around sixty volunteers of the NSS wing, South Campus, University of Kashmir took active part in the drive. The Social Forestry Department will be planting around 3 thousand trees on this important tourist road of the district from Khanabal to Mattan. Continuing the process of achieving the noble mission of making South Kashmir green, South Campus will organize another plantation drive on April 1,  2013 at South Campus, High Ground Fatehgarh.
