The government on Friday asked the Kashmir University (KU) to take the exam for a fifth and sixth semester of 2015 Under Graduate batch of Kashmir region colleges jointly to compensate the time of the students lost due unfavourable to Law and order situation.

The spokesman said directions were issued by Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while chairing a high-level meeting attended by Principal Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asgar Samoon, Vice-chancellor Kashmir University, Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Director Colleges Mushtaq Ahmed Chat and other senior officers of KU and HED.

The meeting decided that the joint exams for the twin semesters would be held in the first week of July 2018.The Minister asked the authorities to complete the process and take all measures in advance to meet the deadline for the exams.

The meeting also discussed various other measures taken for the smooth functioning of the colleges after the winter vacations were over. The VC Kashmir University briefed the Minister about the various activities of the varsity and measures taken for timely conduct of exams and declaration of the results.

Meanwhile, the Minister also discussed the issues regarding the functioning of the colleges in Ladakh region as projected by the student union of the region, which called on him earlier in the day. The Minister issued on spot instructions to the V-C for resolving the issues projected by the students of the region.
