An encounter which took place in Kupwara district last evening has concluded leaving five dead and four injured.
“Two policemen, one Army personnel and two militants were killed in the encounter,” sources said.
They added that four Army personnel were also injured. The encounter took place in the Zoonarewshi area of district Kupwara near the Line of Control (LoC).
They further said that after specific information about the presence of militants, a joint operation was launched by Army and Police on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has condoled the demise of the Army and Police men during the encounter.
In his condolence message to Army, J&K Police Force and the bereaved families, Omar Abdullah expressed his solidarity with them.
