Kupwara, Kargil Among Hottest as Day Temperatures Rise Across Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Several parts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed warm weather conditions on Tuesday, with day temperatures remaining above normal at many stations. According to the Meteorological Department, Kargil recorded the highest maximum temperature at 33.6°C, followed by Kupwara at 32.8°C and Jammu city at 32.6°C.

In Kashmir valley, Srinagar recorded a maximum of 32.5°C, while Qazigund registered 30.2°C and Kukernag 30.8°C. Tourist destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded lower temperatures at 27.4°C and 23.2°C, respectively. Kupwara, in north Kashmir, saw the second-highest temperature in the valley at 32.8°C.

In Jammu division, Banihal recorded 27.7°C, Batote 26.2°C, Bhaderwah 30.6°C, and Katra 29.0°C. Leh in Ladakh stood at 30.8°C, while Kargil remained the hottest across the Union Territory.

According to the Meteorological Department, mainly dry weather is expected across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days. However, isolated light rain or thundershowers may occur in higher reaches, particularly in the afternoon or evening hours. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain 2–3°C above normal in most plains of the region. No major weather disturbance is expected till the end of the month.
