Bar Association Kashmir Friday abstained from court work to express their solidarity with the families of those who were martyred in Handwara and Drugmulla, Kupwara, during the past few days, Bar Association statement said.

The Bar Association paid rich tributes to all those Kashmiris, who have sacrificed their lives, for the cause of freedom of Kashmir and also to those who were martyred at Handwara and Dragmulla, Kupwara, during the past few days.

While condemning the killing of these innocent civilians, it was also decided to file a Public Interest Litigation petition in the High Court of J&K at Srinagar, for getting the matter enquired into, as during past few days, it is being suggested by pro-Govt. think tank in their debates held by certain New Delhi based New Channel, that there is now, no need to conduct any such enquiry into the matter, because the girl has made a statement which has been videographed and circulated through social media that she has not been molested by any army personnel. It was also stated that the girl and her father are in police captivity, ever since from the date of incident and one doesnot know, as to how and in what way her statement was recorded in which, she stated that she was not molested by any army personnel.

It was also stated that in order to know the truth, the Bar Association Srinagar in collaboration with District Bar Association Kupwara, should get the matter enquired into, through a fact finding committee and the report which they may submit, should also be made public.

The members also castigated the statement of Mehbooba Mufti, in which she had stated that those who were killed being poor, therefore, they be given compensation. It was stated that paying of compensation is no substitute for multiple murders and ruining of several innocent families, in perpetuity.

The members also offered Fateh to all the martyrs including those who were killed at Handwara and Drugmulla Kupwara and prayed to Almighty Allah to help the Kashmiri people in their struggle of get rid-off Indian occupation, so that they also live a peaceful life, without any threat to their life and liberty at the hands of ruthless and barbaric forces.
