Kashmir Young Journalists Association on Friday condemned the “misbehaviour” of SMHS doctor with a female journalist.

In a statement issued here, the Association took exception to the behaviour of a doctor at SMHS Hospital who did not allow a journalist of a local daily to perform her duty.

Rabiya Bashir, who works with the Kashmir Monitor, said that when she entered Ward No 15 of the hospital, Dr Saleem Iqbal shouted at her and told her to “Get out from here? What will you journalists do?”

Rabiya had gone to the hospital to speak to the victims who sustained injuries in a grenade blast at Tral on Thursday.

KYJA has sought the intervention of Medical Superintendent, SMHS and Principal GMC. “KYJA wants hospital authorities to come clear on the incident and take action against the accused doctor and ensure journalists are allowed to do their duty,” the statement concluded.
