KUPWARA

Under the genesis of Jammu and Kashmir Shops and Establishments act 1966, the Department of Labour Sunday conducted an extensive checking of Kupwara and Kralpora markets.

The team was headed by Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara Arshid Qadir Bhat, Labour Officer Kupwara Gulam Jeelani Andrabi, Labour Inspector Kupwara and the other officials, fined 35 erratic shopkeepers.

The Department claimed to have received an on-spot fine of about Rs 9000 from the violators of J&K Shops and Establishments Act.

Assistant Labour commissioner Kupwara Arshid Qadir Bhat while talking to Kashmir Life said, “the department will conduct such surprise market inspections in future too.”

Pertinent to mention that the J&K Shops and Establishments Act 1966 makes necessary for the particular business units to close their shops on all Sundays; the move is aimed to protect the interests of employees working in these units.
