SRINAGAR: A labourer sustained a head injury after being hit by a falling stone while working at the under-construction AIIMS hospital site in Awantipora and was later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment, officials said.
The injured has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Lone, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Ramsoo, aged about 45 years.
According to available information, the incident occurred during construction work at the AIIMS Awantipora site when a stone fell and struck the worker on the head. He was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital Awantipora for first aid.
Doctors at SDH Awantipora referred him to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment in view of the nature of the injury.
The condition of the injured labourer was not immediately known. [KNT]
