SRINAGAR: A labourer was killed after being hit by a vehicle from the convoy of Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary in the Satwari area of Jammu district late on Saturday night, officials said.
The accident occurred near Royal Furniture Showroom in Satwari, according to officials.
They said the vehicle, bearing registration number JK01AD-2158, was returning after dropping the Deputy Chief Minister at his residence in Kunjwani when it struck the labourer.
The victim was identified as Bharat Kapas, son of Faquir Kapas, a native of Bihar and currently residing in Model Town, Gangyal. He was taken to a hospital following the accident but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
