A non-local labourer, working at a construction site, slipped to death in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

A police official said that the labourer working at under construction site of a bridge, close to the Line Of Control (LoC) in Uri, suddenly slipped and fell down into a deep gorge.

Soon after the incident, the official said, a rescue operation was immediately launched by the local police and local volunteers who retrieved the labourer and right away took him to a nearby health facility where doctors declared him brought dead.

The labourer was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Altaf Sheikh, a resident of Sarhanpore, Utter Pradesh (UP).

“The body will be sent to his native village after completing medico-legal formalities,” he said. (GNS)
