Ladakh opens online registration portal for hotels, homestays, travel operators in Zanskar

   

SRINAGAR: The Office of the Tourist Officer, Zanskar, under the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, has announced the launch of an online registration facility for all tourist units through the official Ladakh Tourism portal.

According to a public notice issued by Tourist Officer Zanskar Ghulam Rasool Lal, the Online Tourism Registration Portal of the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh, is now available for fresh registration and renewal of tourist units.

The department has asked all tourism entrepreneurs and stakeholders operating or planning to establish hotels, guest houses, resorts, camps, homestays, travel agencies, adventure tour operations and motor cycle tour operations in Zanskar district to submit their applications online through the official portal — Ladakh Tourism portal.

As per the notification, accommodation units such as hotels, guest houses, resorts and camp hotels applying for provisional registration, valid for 18 months, will have to submit a duly filled application form, proof of identity and land ownership documents such as revenue records, sale deed, lease deed or rent agreement.

For permanent registration, valid for five years and renewable, applicants will need documents including trade licence issued by the local body, building occupancy certificate, GST registration certificate or business incorporation certificate (if GST is not applicable), Fire NOC wherever applicable, and Consent to Operate from the Ladakh Pollution Control Committee wherever required.

For homestays, provisional registration will require an application form, identity proof and proof of land ownership or Patwari certificate for Nautod/state land. Permanent registration will be granted only after completion of mandatory training conducted by the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh, and will remain valid for five years.

Travel agents applying for permanent registration must provide an application form, identity proof, proof of physical office in Ladakh, trade licence and GST registration certificate or business incorporation certificate where applicable.

The registration fee has been fixed at Rs 10,000 for provisional registration of hotels and guest houses, while permanent and renewal registration fees range between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 depending on the category. Homestay registration and renewal fee has been fixed at Rs 500. Cancellation of registration and change of business name will cost Rs 2,000 each.

Applicants have been directed to create an account on the portal, verify it through OTP, fill in personal and business details, upload prescribed documents, pay the required fee and submit the application online.

After successful submission, applicants must submit a signed hard copy of the online application along with self-attested copies of documents to the Office of the Tourist Officer, Zanskar, Padum, for verification and further processing.

The department said submission of an online application does not guarantee registration, adding that approval will be subject to document verification, payment of fees, field inspection wherever applicable and approval by the competent authority.

All tourism entrepreneurs and accommodation providers in Zanskar district have been urged to complete the registration process at the earliest.
