As freezing cold continue to grip Himalayan region, the temperature dipped to a new low in the twin towns of Leh-Kargil in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, shivering at minus 12 degrees.

Nail-biting cold created frozen water bodies besides tonnes of snow and razor sharp icicles. Amid the harsh cold, locals complaint about failure of electricity, drinking water facilities, absence of fresh vegetables from the markets and lack of other civic amenities.

The MeT department said that the night temperature in Leh decreased by more than seven degrees over the last two days. The region continues to be the coldest recorded place in JK.
