SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has no proposal at present to extend the Ladli Beti Scheme to Reasi district, the Social Welfare Department has informed the Legislative Assembly.
In a reply to an Un-Starred AQ No. 1/6/133 tabled by MLA Baldev Raj Sharma, the department said the scheme was being implemented in eight districts of the Union Territory.
These districts are Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Pulwama, Budgam, Anantnag, Srinagar and Kishtwar, where the girl child sex ratio was lower compared with other districts, according to the government.
The department said no proposal was currently under consideration for introducing the scheme in Reasi. It added that the Ladli Beti Scheme was under review in the Finance Department.
The government did not specify any timeline for extending the scheme to Reasi.
