SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has promoted or regularised 1,052 officers and officials of the Planning Development and Monitoring Department (PDMD) through departmental selection processes between 2022 and 2025, the government has informed the Legislative Assembly.
In a written reply to Un-Starred Question No. 1/6/556 tabled by Zainapora MLA Showkat Hussain Ganie, the department said 13 Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings and seven Establishment-cum-Selection Committee meetings were convened during the period to address stagnation among its employees.
The department said the cadre structure of PDMD is currently under examination, taking into account functional requirements, workload and existing cadre strength.
Separately, 77 Assistant Directors (Economics and Statistics) appointed through direct recruitment have joined the department, according to the reply.
On a proposal to review the Planning Cadre on the lines of other cadres, including the JKAS, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Accounts cadres, the government said a structured review would be undertaken in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
However, it said no specific timeframe had been fixed for completing the cadre review.
