Six residential houses were damaged, two of them severely after they were hit by a landslide in Gundi Gujran village of this frontier area in north Kashmir.

“The area is prone to landslides and continuous rains and snow melting caused the soil to loosen which led to the landslide and danger in many areas like Panjtara, Taad and Gundi Gujran,” said Chairperson Block Development Council, Teetwal, Nishada Parveen.

She said owing to the continuous threat of landslides in the area people were feeling scared.

She urged the administration to carry out an assessment of the damage and put in place the necessary mitigation measures to prevent further damage. (KNS)
