Officials said the landslide occurred near Himkoti along the new route leading to the holy cave shrine atop the Trikuta hills. However, the pilgrimage remained unaffected as devotees continued their journey through the traditional track.

Soon after the incident, teams of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board pressed men and machinery into service to remove the debris and restore movement on the affected stretch.

Officials said the battery car facility will remain suspended until the route is cleared and declared safe, while the yatra is continuing smoothly through the old track.
