SRINAGAR: The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the Union Territory’s principal road link, remained closed for vehicular movement on Thursday morning following landslides and shooting stones at multiple locations, while the Doda–Kishtwar Road also continued to remain shut, officials said.
According to the traffic update issued at 7:00 am, continuous heavy rainfall has been reported across all major routes, hampering road clearance operations and increasing the risk of further landslides.
While NH-44 and the Doda–Kishtwar Road remain closed, the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road and the Mughal Road are currently open for traffic.
Traffic authorities have advised commuters to avoid undertaking journeys until the weather improves and the roads are declared safe and cleared for vehicular movement.
Officials said restoration work is dependent on improvement in weather conditions and urged the public to follow official traffic advisories before planning travel.
