Residents of Bathuna, Larkipora villages and other adjoining villages Tuesday said that they face immense hardships due to acute shortage of water supply for last five years.

The residents said that they staged protests several times against the PHE department for not providing drinking water but unfortunately they have always lent deaf ears to their pleas.

Miffed over the insensitive attitude of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, the villagers of Bathuna, Larkipora and other adjoining villages asked the PHE department to look into the matter otherwise they will hit streets and will protest against the department.

A villager said, “We are being deprived of water facility and despite repeated requests neither the concerned department nor the administration has bothered to sort our hardships.”

“We are without drinking water for past five years and are forced to consume unhygienic water from nearby Nallah,” they said.

The villagers appealed the concerned officials to ensure proper and immediate water supply to the area so that the water woes faced by the people are over.

A female villager said, “We have to cover a distance of almost a kilometre to fetch drinking water from tube wells for cooking and drinking.”

“If the authorities fail to provide us water supply, we will be forced to come on streets,” she said.
