Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said that former CM, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was always concerned about the Srinagar-Jammu gap.”
PM Modi earlier addressed the fifth convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
“We remember Mufti Sahab. He spent years in public life. One thing was always on his mind: to bridge the gap between Jammu and Srinagar,” said PM Modi.
PM Modi landed in Jammu’s Technical airport around 9 this morning and flied to Katra in Army helicopter.
Reaching out to youth of J&K, PM Modi said, “J&K is mini India. “ “India has the wealth of knowledge to lead the world in the 21st century.”
PM Modi also inaugurated 230 bedded super speciality hospital constructed by SMVDSB, besides a sports complex at Katra.
“I was hearing Mehbooba ji. The enthusiasm with which she spoke of the future of J&K and her energetic leadership…I congratulate her. Mehbooba ji always talks about the development of J&K when we meet. When such a thought is there, development is bound to happen,” PM told a rally in Katra.
In her address, CM Mehbooba said, “We welcome the students, who come here from different part of the nation on the lines of atithi devo bhava. When these students come, they come as guests but they leave as our goodwill ambassadors,” said Mehbooba while addressing the students at the convocation ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra.
“I would request all to make them feel at home so that when they go back they talk about our hospitality and good behaviour and treat our children of the state, who are in lakhs in rest of the country in the same way. We need to behave in such a manner that this cultural mix prospers and the brotherhood flourishes,” she added.
“J&K is a mini India. People of all faiths stay here.”
