Peoples Democratic Party President & Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Saturday asked her party cadre to lead in getting Jammu & Kashmir out of the situational uncertainty and make Jammu & Kashmir a bridge of faith and friendship between India and Pakistan.

Addressing a meeting of party workers on the occasion of first death anniversary of party’s founder patron and former Chief Minister, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti said the path chalked out by the late leader for the party has been to work for reconciliation and mutual trust between India and Pakistan and simultaneously work for minimizing differences between regions and communities in the State.

She hoped the present phase of acrimony between the two countries is a temporary phenomenon and would be soon replaced by dialogue and mutual trust. She asked the party cadre to work unitedly and in one voice and work for achieving the same.

Mehbooba Mufti said her party was the first to advocate that political process and development in the State have to be carried simultaneously and one cannot wait for the other. She said power has never been and would never be the sole objective of her struggle but to give relief to the common people of the State and minimize their problems.

On the occasion, noted cinematographer and scion of Mufti family, Mufti Tassaduq Hussain announced his joining of the PDP.

In his address, Mufti Tassaduq said working for Jammu & Kashmir in many of its aspects has been his passion. He said he has often been pained to see the rising levels of pollution, ever decreasing green cover and other issues in an ecologically fragile State for which he even invited experts in respective fields to Kashmir to suggest remedies.

Party General Secretaries, Muhammad Sartaj Madni and Nizamuddin Bhat and Chief Spokesman of the Party, Mehboob Beig also addressed the gathering.

Ministers, MPs, legislators, leaders and workers in large number attended the function.
