At least three persons sustained injuries in an explosion at the site of Thursday’s gun-battle in Hajin area of Bandipora district Sunday.

Witnesses said that an explosive device blasted near the encounter site as the locals were clearing the debris of the house that was razed to ground by forces on Thursday during the encounter.

The injured have been identified as JCB driver Tanveer Ahmed, a resident of Tergam Sonawari, and Adil Ayub Parray and Omar Ayub Parrey – both residents of Hajin.

The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said that some left-out ammunition might have exploded after causing “minor injuries to three persons”.

The locals alleged that the police did not remove the debris of the house. “Local residents were voluntarily clearing the debris of the house when the blast happened,” they said.

However, police detested the claims of locals saying that the bomb disposal squad was on the job from last two days to sanitize the area in order to avoid any untoward incident.
